The Long Night
A woman flees from her past. She struggles with her loneliness and craves contact. In an attempt to turn her life around, she knocks on the door of her sister and brother-in-law, who reluctantly take her in. What follows is a long, oppressive night in which old wounds open, relationships become increasingly strained and boundaries are severely crossed. Can she still intervene before everything escalates?
You will check Mariana Aparicio together with Esther Scheldwacht and Chiem Vreeken.
Fight to be seen
Director Belle van Heerikhuizen: "When you crave connection, you can end up in situations that are not good for you. In Guilty Child, it was about a boy who was too young to guard his boundaries. The woman in Nightshade is mature, therefore stronger and less naive, but no less vulnerable. It is this tension between strength and vulnerability that fascinates me: how can someone stay upright when everything seems to be working against them? Is she too fragile for the world, or is the world too hard for her?"

About the makers
Last season Belle van Heerikhuizen made the acclaimed Schuldig kind (★★★★★), selected for the Nederlands Theater Festival. A performance about the aftermath of the relationship of an eleven-year-old boy with an adult man, based on the autobiographical work of writer Ted van Lieshout.
Annet Bremen writes light performances about fraught themes. For Wil je een snoepje? (2022), about children's fear and fascination with abduction, she had previously collaborated with Belle van Heerikhuizen. Last season, she wrote the acclaimed F*ck Lolita (★★★★★), which debunks numerous rape myths and lets Lolita do the talking.
