In Panama Pictures' new performance, A story of displacement, we meet a group of people adrift, searching for a familiar place, a home. Teetering on uncertain ground, they risk going down and being left behind. In this no-man's land, they depend on each other.

The search in A story of displacement takes af in an inhospitable landscape with rocky sloping surfaces and undulating floorboards, which turn out to be elastic. These springy floorboards break the performers' fall, distorting and aggravating their movements and but sometimes also making them almost fly - moments of weightlessness form a sharp contrast to slipping, tumbling and seeking grip. In this isolated landscape, other natural laws thus seem to apply, creating a new, fascinating idiom of movement.

With A story of displacement Panama Pictures shows how we relate to our surroundings and how we interact with each other in these disruptive times. Our language of dance and circus shows the strength and vulnerability of the searching human being. Catching and supporting each other, the dancers strive for a collective victory in this dystopian landscape.

The music, a reinterpretation of contemporary techno is specially composed by Strijbos and Van Rijswijk and Davide Bellotta, and performed live by Davide Bellotta (electronics) and a cellist.

"Panama Pictures evokes a world where movement and music need no words. This creates an exciting quest that keeps you on the edge of your seat as viewer and listener." (Brabants Dagbad)
