A Summer Full of Improvements
BIJ13: Interior Renovation
Our restaurant is getting a completely new look and feel, making it even more appealing for our visitors to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink before or after a performance. The upgrade includes new furniture, new carpeting, updated wall finishes, a redesigned bar area, new wall cabinets, and atmospheric lighting. The playground equipment on the terrace will also be replaced.
Maintenance, sustainability improvements, and enhancing the visitor experience
But that’s not all. Work is underway throughout the building to perform maintenance, enhance sustainability, and improve the visitor experience. For example, the wooden floor in the Main Foyer is being replaced, and the wooden floors in the three auditoriums are undergoing maintenance, during which they will be re-oiled.
Progress is also being made in terms of comfort and appearance. All seats in the auditoriums will be thoroughly cleaned, the sunshades in the main foyer will be replaced, and the landscaping near the main entrance will be spruced up. In addition, the restroom facilities will be updated with new soap and paper dispensers.
Meanwhile, the Play Technology department is working on various technical improvements. New LED theater lighting is being installed in the Kameleon , and the existing light sources in all dressing rooms are being replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting.
New recycling bins for separate waste collection will be installed; visitors will soon be able to use a special fire-safe locker to store their bicycle batteries; and the balcony foyers will also be renovated.
Building P
In addition to the many renovations taking place at the Parktheater itself, this summer is also marked by a special project: Building P. The building has past event extensively renovated by the City of Eindhoven and fully adapted to meet the current requirements of a contemporary small theater, while retaining its recognizable atmosphere. The building’s distinctive character remains intact, but it has past event technically and functionally prepared for the future.
We expect to receive the keys to Building P in mid-July. From that point on, the Facility and Play Technology teams will work together to continue prepare the building for use as a theater. With the foundation already solidly in place and renovated, our focus is now on the finishing touches and the overall experience: carefully installing and adjusting the lighting, restoring the seats to their former glory, and getting the kitchen and other facilities ready. It will be an intensive and dynamic period in which a great deal must be accomplished in a short time, with the goal of being ready for the first performance in September. This makes this summer not only a period of maintenance and renovation, but also one of building a new cultural venue for Eindhoven.
In short, while things may seem quiet at the theater, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes so we can reopen our doors at the end of August!
